Moniek Schrijer

Moniek’s practice explores materiality, which pulls and plays with objects of the every day, currently focused on altering flat sheet metal. Ingeniously set materials are made to glow, reflecting and refracting light from a richly hand-painted surface, suspended or mounted; these works melt dimensions and disciplines.

Moniek Schrijer is from Aotearoa-NZ; recent exhibitions include THE JEWEL ROOM (City Gallery, Poneke, 2023), THE DEBRIS OF THE AURA (Nelson Jewellery Week, 2023) and SCREENSAVER (Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary, 2022) Her work is in the collections of Die Neue Sammlung, Munich, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, and Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand.
