HANDSHAKE organised specialised programmes that enabled the creation of unique artworks linked to development programmes and coaching, culminating in high-profile exhibition exposures.

These programmes took place after each of the two-year recruitment programme ended (HS2, HS4, HS6, HS8). Alongside these official projects were one-time events resulting from curatorial requests and short-notice opportunities. 

HS1 pioneered the current HS project structures. The lesson learned was to offer first to newcomers a recruitment programme that allows for safe experimental development. This programme provides plenty of feedback and support from experts, along with masterclasses led by renowned specialised educators and exhibitions in community-level spaces. After two years, talented HS participants could be selected for high-profile HS programmes and/or short-term  HS Alumni exhibitions.
