Artist statement

I value a sense of lightness, spontaneity and joy in my making.  I have young children, advocate for the environment in local politics, support Te Reo Maori language revitalisation and run local projects to engage a wider public with contemporary jewellery.  Hope, lightness and joy are concepts I want to pin to my lapel.

Bio

Kristin began her jewellery career after immigrating to Auckland New Zealand from the US.  She has had the honour of showing at SCHMUCK 2013, Handwerksmesse, Munich, Germany, the Beijing International Jewellery Art Biennale, as well as a number group shows in New Zealand, Australia, Portugal, and the US.

She enjoys exploring the boundaries of jewellery by making, curating, writing and instigating local projects.  She was an Editor for Overview magazine, a founding member of the Jewellers Guild of Greater Sandringham, the Art Jewellery Forum Ambassador to NZ and served on the board of directors for Objectspace Gallery.

She is currently organising a Broach of the Month Club to share the experience of wearing contemporary jewellery in the small town of New Plymouth, Taranaki, NZ.
