Attai had just been able to visit Prague for the weekend – first trip since Covid hit.
He talked about a Gingerbread Shop. I want to go back there too. Jealous that he can get on a train and be in Prague in a couple of hours. He said they’re supposed to show three forms of Covid ID to get into countries, but noone asked for anything. So frustrating. Odd that I was reading this novel set in Prague in the 1960’s.
Looking at my heat shrink joined plastic…he said
• Pay attention to the detail
• How do I refine so it’s more polished?
• Look at African beads/patterns
• Look at Manon van kouswijk’s work…she uses colour and it’s beautiful, playful but well done.
• Make more variations
• Make sure it hangs well
• Look at the opening between material and metal

Another zoom gathering to discuss our final words etc. I’m very grateful that others took it upon themselves to write necessary text for our video uploads. All we had to do was upload them, which was easier than I’d expected it to be.
I called mine ‘A Crunchy Pickle’, ‘A Crunchy Pickle on Mars’, ‘A Crunchy Pickle Underwater’. Asking, have we bitten off more than we can chew? Confronting my daily plastic use and findings. Confrontation is (pyschology) ‘a technique used in group therapy’…’in which one is forced to recognise one’s shortcomings and their possible consequences. The video works enabled me to expand my thinking and interact with the material differently. Flipping my underwater video, I was attempting to reverse the process of plastic in the seas/rivers/lakes. On Mars, I could drag the plastic necklace overland with alot of impact. In the concept version, my found material was rolling downhill, communing with nature. Can we all live together?
HS6’s fundraising meeting 23 Sept 2021
We had a zoom gathering to discuss our fundraising that Amelia and Jack have worked hard on. Difficult to navigate when we’re locked up and have no idea when we’re going to be unlocked.
I’ve found it even more difficult than usual to focus…every day just starting the day when it’s about to end, in spite of my best efforts. Curly time.
This is my version of a spring ring, plastic jewel. I can’t find refined. She’s in there somewhere.
